Syllabus Design

The first thing a student may see when s/he expresses interest in your course is your syllabus and website. Including a clear statement on the scholarly standards in your field, your collaboration policy, and your late-assignment/extension policy will go a long way to avoiding issues later. In addition, students have told us that they very much appreciate statements about your personal teaching philosophy and course goals. Here are some sample statements on academic integrity, collaboration and course goals and teaching philosophies:
